Vicente Beltrán recently spoke with WWE’s United States Champion, Sheamus, for ViBe & Wrestling. These are the highlights of that interview:
Interview with United States Champion Sheamus
Highlights:
On his injury
I am doing ok, getting better. There is a lot of damage done, outside and inside. It was more painful getting the nose back together that what it was getting it broken; more annoyed. Nothing stops me, I had multiple injuries, I turned my meniscus… I don’t like to being sitted at home, I don`t like to make excuses for not being there when I can be.
What would he say to those that state that wrestling is not real
Come on an step in the ring with me and I will show you how real it is! Ask my opponents. That stimag has been in wrestling or in WWE for decades. I’m proud to bring a very physical style. Look at my matches with Drew, Bobby or Big E. It’s a different element when I’m out there. For those people that say that is not real, watch my matches throughtout the pandemic, specially with those guys that I said before and you won’t be able to say it because there is nothinf fake about it.
About releases and the moral of the lockerroom
The lockerroom got to get on with it. I’ve been in the company 12 years and it is part of the business, people come in and people go and you got to get down with it, every monday you got to get there and perform. I don’t think the moral is down, I think is a lot better that what it used to be when I started. There is a lot more of camaradery and we have great lads, experienced lads and young lads working together during the pandemic with no fans. You talk to some of the legends and they will tell you that they would not adapt to perform in that ring so I think is a credit to everybody who has been working non stop during the last 15 or 16 months and keeping the company going and people entertained during this situation.
On Becky Lynch and her status
Becky to me is like a sister. She went there and she made herself, she wasn’t in the radar. She went there and she tore it down and made herself relevant and despite of the booking she … ‘the cream always rises’ to the top and that’s exactly what happened for her. And she went there and did it herself, did what she believed and we definitely miss her, she is a Superstar, she is out there with the greats of the past, the greats of the future and people love her because what you see is what you get. She is a very very honest person and hard worker and she is not afraid to say what is on her mind. People miss everything about her, miss her carisma, miss her presence.
I don’t know when she is gonna come back, I am not gonna ask her, is not of my business to ask for that or what are her plans for the future but I think that going into the live events with the fans we’d love to have her back. I miss her, everybody else miss her too. I’m excited if she does come back. That question can only be answer by her.
Becoming a Grand Slam Champion (missing the IC title)
I’m always thinking about that, is in my target range. Now I don’t have the chance because that title is on SmackDown and there’s nothing I can do about it but there will come the time when I will get the opportunity and I will become the ultimate Grand Slam Champion, THE ONLY EVER ULTIMATE Grand Slam Champion. That is there but right now I am the US Champ and I’m enjoying that, enjoying being out there with Ricochet and Humberto but the payback is coming. Whatever happens, eventually my eyes will be back on the IC title.
